NEWTON, Massachusetts -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The 2013-2014 edition of Casino City’s North American Gaming Almanac and CD, released today by Casino City Press, reports that in 2011 gaming revenue in the US increased by 0.89 percent, for a total of $89.04 billion.

The Almanac contains nearly 750 pages on the North American gaming market, including market profiles for each state and Canadian province and nearly 1,000 revenue charts and tables. Property rankings are also included, with top properties listed by type of gaming activity and property, and number of gaming positions, machines, table games, and hotel rooms.

Each gaming market profile includes a legislative overview, 2011 gaming revenue figures by type (commercial gaming, Indian gaming lotteries, etc.), 2012 monthly total gaming revenue figures for several states, gaming property counts, machine and table game counts and distribution, gaming property profiles by type and by location, property owner profiles, and regulatory bodies.

“The North American Gaming Almanac is exceptionally helpful in obtaining a comprehensive view of the ever-changing gaming industry. The way the data is presented allows such versatility of use that financial analysts, gaming analysts, market research consultants, casino operators, industry suppliers, regulators, libraries, and universities have all found that the Almanac facilitates their endeavors,” says Michael Corfman, Casino City CEO. “Uses range from developing benchmarks to analyzing competitors and industry trends.”

Key findings in Casino City’s North American Gaming Almanac:

In the United States:

• Casino and card room gaming accounted for 42% of total U.S. gaming revenue, tribal gaming for 30%, lotteries for 25%, and race and sports wagering for 3%.

• In terms of total gaming revenue, the top two state performers, Nevada and California, were nearly neck and neck with totals of $9.9 billion and $9.89 billion respectively. New York, Pennsylvania and Florida rounded out the top five with totals of $5.32 billion, $4.38 billion and $4.31 billion respectively.

• The state of Alabama experienced the most gaming revenue growth, followed in order by Maryland, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and Arizona.

• New Jersey experienced a fairly significant decline of 6.9% in total gaming revenue.

Across the U.S. and Canada:

• Tribal gaming in North America experienced the greatest growth with an increase of 3.66%, followed by lottery and casino and card room gaming with increases of 2.25% and 0.41% respectively.

• The only decline was seen in race and sports wagering, which decreased 8.4%.

The North American Gaming Almanac CD version includes profiles and statistics for more than 1,500 gaming properties plus 236 annual reports, useful analysis tools, an interactive gaming property map and other features. A spreadsheet is also included on the CD containing historical gaming revenue data back to the year 2000 for each gaming jurisdiction and associated gaming activity.

Together with Casino City’s Indian Gaming Industry Report, by Dr. Alan Meister, the North American Gaming Almanac provides comprehensive coverage of gaming in the North American marketplace.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Century Casinos, Inc. (NASDAQ Capital Market® and Vienna Stock Exchange: CNTY) announced today that, through a wholly owned subsidiary, it signed amended agreements with United Horsemen of Alberta Inc. ("UHA") as well as a commitment letter with Bank of Montreal ("BMO") in connection with the development of a racetrack and Racing Entertainment Centre ("REC") in Balzac , north metropolitan area of Calgary, Alberta, Canada .

The project, which will be called "Century Downs Racetrack and Casino," will be the only horse racetrack in the Calgary area and will consist of a 5.5 furlongs (0.7 miles) racetrack and a REC, including a gaming floor offering 550 gaming machines, a bar, a lounge, restaurant facilities and an off-track betting area. This REC license is the only license currently available in any metropolitan area of Alberta , as its application pre-dates the three-year moratorium on new Casinos and RECs (which can be extended for an additional two years) by the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission ("AGLC").

The Company completed its due diligence on the project. Litigation that was brought by a third party against UHA relating to prior business arrangements between that party and UHA has been settled, allowing the project to move forward. The updated budget for the construction and opening of the REC and racetrack is estimated at CAD 24 million ( USD 23 million based on the exchange rate in effect on November 30, 2013 ). The Company agreed to lend up to CAD 24 million to UHA and intends to provide the loan to UHA with borrowings under an amended Credit Agreement with BMO; BMO and the Company signed a commitment letter in this respect.

For entering into the amended agreements with UHA the Company received a 15% ownership position as well as board control in UHA. In addition, the Company has the right to convert CAD 11 million of the loan amount into a 60% ownership position in UHA. Thus, if the Company exercises its conversion right, it would own 75% of UHA. Once the project is developed and operational and for as long as the Company has not exercised its conversion rights for a majority ownership position in UHA, the Company will receive 60% of UHA's net profit before tax as a management fee, subject to certain provisions.

Both the credit and management agreements are subject to final approvals from the AGLC. AGLC has moved the licensing approval process to step 5, which give UHA and the Company the permission to build the REC and racetrack under a number of conditions; the license itself will be issued shortly before the planned opening of the REC and racetrack, upon a final review by AGLC. All significant shareholders in UHA, including the Company, have already been found suitable by the AGLC. Horse Racing Alberta, the governing authority for horse racing in Alberta , has already approved the project and issued a license. The applications for final building permits are in process with Rocky View County. There is no assurance that the needed approvals will be obtained or as to the timing of such approvals.

The proposed project is located less than one mile north of the city limits of Calgary and 4.5 miles from the Calgary International Airport. The location is ideally positioned exiting off the Queen Elizabeth II Highway, which is the main corridor between Calgary and Edmonton and one of the most heavily used highways in Western Canada , next to the CrossIron Mills shopping mall, a major regional attraction, and would capture both the north and the northwest Calgary markets, which do not currently have a casino.

The Company plans to hold a sod turning ceremony on December 4, 2013 in Calgary . The Company anticipates that the REC project will be completed by the end of 2014.

Las Vegas-based Paragon Gaming is seeing some pushback in Vancouver, British Columbia, as the company moves to build the largest hotel-casino in Western Canada.

Paragon hopes to build a $535 million development that includes two Marriott hotel towers with 550 hotel rooms, five restaurants, retail outlets, 50,000 square feet of meeting space and a 72,000-square-foot casino next to the B.C. Place stadium.

“A development like this should be beautiful and exciting — and that’s what we’re bringing to Vancouver,” Paragon executive Scott Menke said.

But not everybody in the city is celebrating, according to The Province.com. Anti-gambling forces fought the B.C. Place casino every step of the way, and are now demanding legal limits on possible expansion of the facility down the road.

“The provincial health officer has made it clear: The more you expand gambling, the more gambling addiction you get,” said Sandy Garossino of the Vancouver Not Vegas coalition.

Hey Las Vegas, meet the new kid on the strip club block.

The new club features an electronic drink tracking system that notates guests’ dancer and beverage preferences. Never again will you have to deal with that other girl when the one you really want is the long-haired brunette.

Gordon Keliikipi owns the club.

During the course’s final two weeks, participants will be trained at a PT’s or Sierra Gold Tavern in Las Vegas or one of the three Golden Gaming casinos in Pahrump.

To date, there have been two graduating classes of 24 participants, nine of which have been hired in Las Vegas and Pahrump in Golden Gaming taverns and casinos.

The federal Bureau of Land Management is preparing for its second-biggest land auction since 2005. Though auctions during the boom led to feeding frenzies among local builders desperate for land, the sale scheduled for Jan. 16 could have relatively few takers.

At least two big, local builders said they’ll forgo the auction, at which 440 acres will be on the block. Pardee Homes and KB Home said in a recent interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the land on the market isn’t very developable, because most of it requires low housing densities. And with fewer homes on a parcel, that means more costs for everyone.

“You end up with a very high price point for those buyers, and that’s not where we want to be right now,” said Robert McGibney, president of KB Home’s Las Vegas division.
