Convicted felon will not benefit from Everett land sale

The specter of having a criminal benefit from the sale of the former Monsanto real estate in Everett, Mass., has been eliminated with statements signed by all owners.
Some opponents to the Wynn Resorts Ltd.’s $1.6 billion casino plans for Everett had intimated a convicted felon, who formerly owned part of the real estate, would benefit greatly from the sale. In order to ease any concern the Massachusetts Gaming Commission might have, Wynn Resorts officials had all three current owners sign statements eliminating that concern.
The land, some 30 acres along the Mystic River, is being purchased by the Las Vegas gaming company for $35 million.
