Online casino and gambling experts, Jackpot247, have commented on a new report on the profitability of social casino games for various online publishers.

A brand new report by Distimo has revealed that social casino games are now some of the top-grossing in mobile gaming, based on revenue generated by various iOS App Store and Google Play publishers. Looking specifically at the top overall grossing publishers between March 17th and 23rd, the study found that 20 of the top 100 publishers on the App Store have published at least one social casino game, with 19 of the top 100 in Google Play doing the same.

All seven of the top social casino game publishers were more profitable on the App Store than on Google Play, and the top publisher accounted for 21% of the top 10’s total revenue. The second biggest accounted for 16% of revenue, and the third for 12%.

Online and mobile gambling experts, Jackpot247, have commented on this study and how far it unveils the popularity of social casino games. A spokesperson for the company said:

“Social casino games make the practice of online gambling a more immersive, social experience that many people choose to partake in, and the great revenue figures revealed in this study demonstrate how popular they really are. Revenue taken from regulated online and mobile gambling benefits the industry as well funding for other government projects, and the success of these apps in both the App Store and Google Play is encouraging for the future of the industry.”

Sheldon Adelson’s Las Vegas Sands, the international mega-casino and resort company with a market capitalisation of US$65 billion, finally on Friday officially took its Bethlehem Pennsylvania casino property off the market, after several months of unconfirmed rumours there was a deal in the works to sell it to fellow billionaire Carl Icahn’s Tropicana Entertainment.

In a recent quarterly earnings call, Sheldon Adelson was full of acclaim for both Las Vegas Sands achievements, and its future growth potential, in far-flung places such as Macau, and Singapore. In contrast, even Las Vegas itself, which used to be the cornerstone of the company and its most prolific cash cow, is now already a much smaller piece of the Las Vegas Sands global pie.

And as for their casino in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, which pulled in a scant US$117 million in the first quarter in net revenues it had been semi-publicly up for sale for quite a while and got no mention at all.

Rumors have abounded for some months, however, that Carl Icahn’s Tropicana Entertainment was in line to buy the Bethlehem property, and that a deal was ready to go once there was a handshake between the two billionaires.

Already a month ago the local paper there, The Morning Call, ran a major article on a possible pending purchase, with town Mayor Robert Donchez saying, carefully, then “I’ve heard the rumors like everyone else, but I’ve heard nothing directly from the Sands or any possible buyer,” adding that Sands’ interim President Douglas Niethold had told him that the Bethlehem casino was not yet sold, but that “for the last 1 1/2 years there probably have been discussions on selling it.”

Exactly what was on the table with Tropicana Entertainment then remained unclear, but sources told the paper that at least one model would have Las Vegas Sands sell the Sands casino, hotel, shopping mall and concert venue to Tropicana Entertainment. But all the spare real estate, including vacant former Bethlehem Steel buildings and the blast furnaces west of the casino – would be spun out and sold instead as development land for future development to a group of Bethlehem and New York investors who currently hold a minority share of the total property.

Well, instead, on Friday, Las Vegas Sands announced it now has no intention of selling its market-leading property in Pennsylvania and, in fact, is working on a variety of concepts in which the company would further invest in the property.

Mobile social casino studio Gamzio Mobile has finalised its partnership with real-money platform provider Cashbet and is set to launch its first iGaming product in Apple’s UK App Store.

Gamzio first revealed that it had agreed a partnership with Cashbet in January as it looked to enter the real-money gaming space to complement its existing social casino business. The company currently has one free-to-play app live, the mobile social slot game Slots-O-Luck.

The company’s chief executive Jason Deiboldt said his top priorities in ensuring a successful real-money launch were to provide players with exclusive game content, strong customer service and player support, and fast and reliable banking transactions.

“Cashbet's innovative player management technology and 24-hour player support team will help to ensure all of Gamzio's players enjoy an unmatched mobile casino experience inside Gamzio's real-money games,” Deiboldt explained.

Deiboldt also revealed that Gamzio had hired two individuals with a combined 30 years of real-money gaming experience to support the launch, although it did not reveal their identities.

The Cashbet solution is one of the latest real-money gaming platforms to launch, competing with the likes of Betable, real-money social games network ISIS Friends and HTML5 platform provider Odobo. Each solution is designed to allow small, independent developers to establish themselves in the iGaming sector without heavy compliance and support costs.

The company holds Category 1 and Category 2 eGambling licences from the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, and was founded by Scientific Games veterans Dr Mike Reaves, who acts as the company’s chief executive, and chief technology officer George Weinberg.

Reaves has claimed that Cashbet is currently in negotiations with a number of potential partners, but is yet to announce any other deals.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) — Nevada’s gaming regulators have notified license holders they cannot be involved in the state’s marijuana business.

In a notice to licensees posted Tuesday on its website, the board stated that because it’s a federal crime to grow, possess or sell marijuana, the state must not allow casino operators to run or hold a financial interest in a medical marijuana business.

The industry advisory states, that unless federal law changes, “the board does not believe investment or any other involvement in a medical marijuana facility or establishment by a person who has received a gaming approval or has applied for a gaming approval is consistent with the effective regulation of gaming.”

Gaming Control Board member Terry Johnson sent a memo Tuesday reminding licensees that while the state has legalized dispensaries, federal law still prohibits manufacturing and distributing marijuana.

Johnson says that unless federal law changes, it could discredit the state's gambling industry if a casino licensee gets involved in the medical marijuana business.

It was unclear whether the board would discipline licensees who get involved in both industries. Officials with the Gaming Control Board were not immediately available for comment Tuesday morning.

M Resort CEO Anthony Marnell has invested in a company that is seeking a Clark County medical marijuana license. An M spokeswoman couldn't immediately comment on the notice.

Kathmandu: All casinos in Nepal have been shut down since Monday after their managements failed to heed the government's repeated warnings over their outstanding tax and royalty dues, the ministry of culture said Tuesday.

A total of 10 casinos operating in Nepal owe $11.26 million to the government and the pending dues date back to fiscal year 2005-06, Xinhua reported Tuesday.

The Nepal Casino Rules, 2013, require that each casino pays $42,105 to the government every year as a royalty.

With the closure of casinos, the Himalayan country's gaming business that began around 47 years ago, has suffered a major jolt, and uncertainty looms over their revival.

The closure has also deprived some 10,000 individuals of their jobs as a single casino usually employed at least 100 youths.

The ministry of culture, tourism and civil aviation that regulates the casino business in Nepal last week asked the home ministry to declare these joints illegal and close them down.

The move followed the casino operators' reluctance to clear their outstanding tax and royalty dues though the government extended the deadline four times.

"Even though we had previously given nine months' time to clear their dues, the casino operators did not listen to the government, which forced us to close them down," Xinhua cited Madhusudan Burlakoti, joint secretary at culture ministry, as saying.

The culture ministry officials said the casinos' licences would be renewed if they cleared the dues.

According to the analysts, the shutdown of the casinos may keep foreign tourists from the Himalayan country.

Women Take to Texas Hold’em at mFortune Mobile Casino

mFortune has revealed that more women are playing Texas Hold’em Poker at its website and on its mobile app than ever before.

The casino operator, based in the UK, has announced that there has been a rise in the number of female players over the last year, with women making up almost a quarter of all poker players on the site.
The online and mobile casino believes the relative anonymity of playing online has helped encourage female players to take up the game.
In addition, online sites that host poker games tend to have a less testosterone driven atmosphere in comparison to land based casinos.

Prominent poker players who are women, including Victoria Coren – recent winner of the European Poker tour - and Liv Boeree, are also thought to have inspired female players to have a go online.
There are other contributing factors, including the home of poker moving from Las Vegas to the online community.

Additionally, with inequality between the sexes widespread across the UK, it has been suggested that poker online offers women a chance to compete on level playing field with men.
mFortune mobile casino provides a range of games for use on mobile devices, including poker, roulette, bingo, slots and blackjack. All games are compatible with Android and iOS, and are exclusive to mFortune.

Texas Hold’em Poker at mFortune welcomes new players with a £5 free bonus, subject to terms and conditions.
